話し言葉では「た形　＋　っきり」も使われる。

例文

• 朝にコーヒーを飲んだきり、夕方まで何も食べられなかった。

　I had coffee in the morning and nothing to eat until the evening.

• 3年前に京都を旅行したきり、どこへも行っていない。

　I have not been anywhere since my trip to Kyoto three years ago.

• ステーキなんて、半年前に食べたきりだよ。

　I haven’t had steak since six months ago.

• 彼とは別れたきり、一度も会っていない。

　I broke up with him and never saw him again.

• 父は病気で寝たきり全然飲んでいない。

　My father is sick in bed and doesn’t drink at all.

• 英語は大学のとき勉強したきり、全く使っていないので話せない。

　I can’t speak English because I haven’t used it at all since I studied it in college.

• 料理をしたのは母が病気で寝込んだときに作ったきりだ。

　The only time I cooked was when my mother was sick in bed.

• あの芸能人、何年か前にテレビで見たきりだけど、どうしているかな。

　I haven’t seen that celebrity on TV in years, I wonder how he is doing.

• 彼は「ごめんね」と言ったきり、黙ってしまった。

　He said, “I’m sorry,” and then shut up.

• 子どもは自分の部屋に入ったきり出てこないから、何かあったのかもしれない。

　The child went into his room and never came out, so something must have happened.

• 息子は3年前に家を出て行ったきり、連絡もない。

　My son has not heard from him since he left home three years ago.

• 高校を卒業したきり、彼には一度も会っていない。

　I haven’t seen him once since we graduated from high school.

• 高校時代の友人とは、卒業式の日に会ったきりだ。

　I haven’t seen my high school friends since graduation day.

• 彼は朝出かけたきり、まだ帰ってこない。

　He left in the morning and hasn’t come back yet.

• 猫はソファの上に飛び乗ったきり、ずっとそこで寝ている。

　The cat jumped onto the sofa and has been sleeping there ever since.
