意味・用法

[意味]

①何かをし始めて、まだ終わっていない状態

②もう少しで～の状態になった

[英語訳]

①Use “～かけ” when you say that you have started something and are not finished with it yet.

②Use “～かけ” when you want to express that something almost happened but did not actually occur.

• 食べかけのケーキを冷蔵庫に入れておいた。

　I put the partially eaten cake in the fridge.

• やりかけの宿題を机の上に置いたままだ。

　I left my unfinished homework on the desk.

• 飲みかけのジュースを片付けてから出かけてね。

　Finish or clean up your half-drunk juice before you go out.

• 書きかけのメールを下書きフォルダに保存した。

　I saved my unfinished email in the drafts folder.

• 作りかけのプラモデルがたくさんある。

　There are many partially assembled plastic models.

• 読みかけの本をベッドの横に置いておいた。

　I left my partially read book next to the bed.

• 洗いかけの皿をそのままにしていたら、母に怒られた。

　I left the half-washed dishes as they were, and my mom got mad at me.

• 乾きかけの洗濯物を取り込んだら、まだ少し湿っていた。

　I brought in the almost dry laundry, but it was still a little damp.

• 事故にあって死にかけた。

　I was in an accident and almost died.

• トイレ行きかけたけど、お腹の調子が良くなった。

　I was about to go to the restroom, but my stomach started feeling better.

• 笑いかけたけど、彼の真剣な顔を見てやめた。

　I was about to smile, but I stopped when I saw his serious expression.

• 忘れかけていた思い出が写真を見て蘇った。

　Memories I had almost forgotten came back when I looked at the photo.

• 言いかけた言葉をぐっと飲み込んだ。

　I swallowed back the words I was about to say.

• 階段でつまずいて転びかけたが、手すりにつかまって踏みとどまった。

　I tripped on the stairs and almost fell, but I caught myself on the railing.

• 怒りかけたが、深呼吸をして気持ちを落ち着けた。

　I was about to get angry, but I took a deep breath and calmed myself down.

• バスに乗りかけたけど、忘れ物に気づいて降りた。

　I was about to get on the bus, but I realized I had forgotten something and got off.

• ゲームをクリアしかけたのに、最後の敵にやられた。

I was about to clear the game, but I got defeated by the final boss.
